Summary
PII Offline Remover processes your documents entirely on your device. Your text and PDF files are never uploaded, transmitted, or seen by us. There are no user accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising. The app contacts our servers only to download the detection model and to verify your subscription — never to send your content.
Your documents stay on your device
The core of the app — detecting and redacting personal data in text and PDFs — runs locally, using an AI model that executes natively on your Mac. The text you paste and the documents you open are processed in memory on your device and are never sent anywhere. We never see your files, the personal data they contain, or the results.
What the app sends over the network
The app makes network connections in only two situations, neither of which involves your content:
- Downloading the model. On first launch, the app downloads its detection model (a one-time download) from our content server. This request contains no personal data about you.
- Verifying your subscription. To unlock the model, the app confirms that you have an active subscription or trial. For this it sends a device identifier (a hardware ID derived from your Mac) and a one-time public key generated on your device. On the Mac App Store, it also sends the purchase receipt that Apple signed, so we can confirm the subscription is valid. This lets us deliver the model’s decryption key sealed to your specific device and prevent abuse of the free trial.
We do not receive your name, email, Apple ID, password, or payment details through the app. Payments on the Mac App Store are handled entirely by Apple.
The device identifier
The device identifier is a value that identifies your machine (not you personally). We use it only to bind your license or trial to your device and to ensure the 3-day free trial is used once per machine. It is not linked to your identity and is not used for tracking or advertising.
File access
When you open or drop a PDF, macOS grants the app access to exactly that file. The app does not scan or access anything you did not select. Redacted documents are saved where you choose.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions and the free trial are managed by Apple on the Mac App Store. We receive only a signed confirmation that a subscription is active — never your payment information. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple account settings.
Third parties
The app uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
