Summary
Age Encrypt does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising. Everything the app does happens locally on your device.
What we collect
Nothing. Age Encrypt has no servers and does not send your data anywhere. The developer never sees your files, your keys, your passphrases, or any information about how you use the app.
Where your data lives
- Files you encrypt or decrypt stay on your device. Encrypted output is written next to the original, or to a folder you choose.
- Encryption keys you create or import are stored locally on your device only.
- Passphrases are used in memory to derive or unlock keys, and are never stored or transmitted.
Network access
Age Encrypt works fully offline. The only time it contacts the network is when you explicitly type a GitHub username to import someone’s public keys — the app then requests that user’s public SSH keys from github.com/<username>.keys. This request is initiated only by you, contains no personal data about you, and is entirely optional. If you never use that feature, the app makes no network connections at all.
File access
When you choose files or folders to encrypt or decrypt, macOS grants the app access to exactly those items. The app does not scan or access anything you did not select.
Third parties
Age Encrypt uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
